My Late Father’s Will Hinged on Five Years of Marriage, but My Husband’s Secret Could Ruin Everything – Story of the Day #5

My late father’s will stated that my brother and I would only inherit his estate if we both stayed married for five years. At the time, my marriage was already falling apart because I’d discovered my husband’s affair—but the will forced us to stay together.

My brother Henry seemed confident. His marriage looked solid, and he subtly mocked my situation. As tensions grew, Henry’s wife suddenly left him, giving me hope that I might still win my father’s farm. Soon after, I divorced my husband, choosing honesty over money.

That’s when I learned the truth: Henry and his wife had staged their breakup. They had known about my husband’s affair and manipulated events to push me into divorce so Henry could inherit everything.

Heartbroken, I believed I had lost it all—until I discovered a hidden letter from my father. He had anticipated the lies and included a final clause: the farm belonged to the child brave enough to choose truth over illusion.

The farm was mine after all. In time, I even gave Henry a second chance, just as my father had hoped.
