A Rhode Island man, Tim Petit, bought a limited-edition $640 Trump-themed watch as a surprise gift for his wife. The watch, marketed as one of only 250 produced, seemed like a special collectible.
However, when his wife opened the gift, the couple quickly noticed a major mistake: the watch face read “RUMP” instead of “TRUMP” because the letter “T” was missing.
The error left the couple disappointed, with Petit saying he expected better quality and attention to detail. He also expressed frustration over difficulties contacting customer service and said the mistake brought his wife to tears.
The watches are sold through GetTrumpWatches.com, which states that while Trump’s name and likeness are licensed for the products, they are not designed, manufactured, or sold by Donald Trump or the Trump Organization.
After a local news station contacted the company, the issue was resolved. Petit received a replacement watch, an apology, and an $800 store coupon.
The incident has sparked online discussion about quality control and the growing market for Trump-branded merchandise.
