I Walked Out of My Friend’s Wedding When She Asked for $5,000

When my old college friend Tessa asked me to be her bridesmaid, I spent over $1,300 on travel, outfits, and gifts—trying to be supportive. But on the wedding day, a coordinator stopped me at the entrance and said I needed to pay a $5,000 “event contribution” before entering.

I thought it was a joke—until Tessa walked over and casually said, “You agreed to this. It’s standard.”

That’s when I realized she didn’t want me there as a friend… just as a bank account.

So I turned around, walked to my car, left the venue, and blocked her before hitting the highway. I saved $5,000—and cut off a fake friend for good.
